After three intense days of activity, the XVII inPERU Road Show in New York, USA, concluded successfully. The interest of foreign investors in Peru was reflected in the business roundtables and one-on-one meetings held with members of the Peruvian delegation, which comprised more than 50 representatives from the public and private sectors.
The central event of the Road Show was the “Invest in Peru” seminar held at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the world’s largest stock exchange, where Peru’s advantages, the potential of various economic sectors, and the investment opportunities the country offers were presented. Speakers included Rómulo Mucho, Minister of Energy and Mines; Carlos González Mendoza, Deputy Minister of Economy; Adrián Armas, Chief Economist of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru; Mercedes Aráoz, who led the official delegation; José Antonio Blanco, past president of inPERU and CEO of BTG Pactual Peru; and Juan Carlos Mandujano, Executive Director of inPERU.
During his presentation, the Minister of Energy and Mines stated that Peru is a key player in mining, thanks to its significant reserves of copper, silver, molybdenum, zinc, and gold. He elaborated on the sector’s challenges and growth potential, the energy transition and Peru’s progress in this area, and the possibilities for attracting investment in mining and energy — highlighting wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectric power generation. He also presented the major projects in the pipeline for the hydrocarbons subsector, including a methane petrochemical hub for fertilizer production and a gas pipeline to meet demand in the southern regions. “Peru provides investors, both foreign and domestic, with a framework of stability for investment, and our government is working to improve public policies to facilitate their arrival,” the Minister emphasized.
Deputy Minister of Economy Carlos González Mendoza highlighted the responsible management of fiscal policy, which allows the country to reaffirm its commitment to meeting deficit and debt targets within the fiscal rules framework. “Peru is aiming for 5% growth, and attracting foreign direct investment is essential to achieving that,” he said.
Adrián Armas, Chief Economist of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, echoed this view, emphasizing that Peru’s macroeconomic fundamentals remain solid and provide the foundation for returning to the high-growth trajectory the country experienced in previous years.
Mercedes Aráoz and Juan Carlos Mandujano highlighted that, beyond mining, other sectors such as finance, infrastructure, logistics, tourism, and housing offer significant investment opportunities for the country. They underscored the importance of staying close to the world’s leading financial stakeholders and maintaining direct communication with them.
With the close of this successful event in New York, the commitment to promoting Peru as a strategic, safe, and reliable investment destination on the international stage is reaffirmed — with confidence that the meetings and business roundtables initiated during this XVII Road Show will materialize in the near future into investments in major projects that will contribute to the country’s economic development.
