Through an investment seminar, the entry of hotel and tourism infrastructure companies into the Peruvian market was promoted.
The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERU) organized the seminar “Investments in the Tourism Industry in Peru” in Madrid, Spain. The objective was to attract more Spanish companies from the tourism sector to the national market.
The event brought together representatives of hotel chains, developers and hotel operators, investment funds, and public- and private-sector institutions from Spain, who were presented with the potential of Peru’s tourism sector and hotel investment opportunities in the country.
PROMPERU presented a portfolio of more than 40 hotel investment projects located in Arequipa, Cusco, Lima, Piura, and Tumbes, with a combined estimated value exceeding USD 300 million.
Through presentations, a discussion panel, and success-story case studies, the event also reinforced Peru’s positioning as a safe and reliable destination for foreign direct investment.
Among the companies participating in the seminar were Meliá Hotels International, Iberia Express, Costa del Sol Wyndham Hotels, and KPMG.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Desilú León, led the Peruvian delegation and delivered a presentation on Peru’s tourism sector. She was joined by the Ambassador of Peru to Spain, Luis Iberico; the Director of Business Investment Promotion at PROMPERU, Daniel Córdova; and the Economic and Commercial Counselor of Peru in Madrid, Joan Barrena.
This initiative is part of the strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, through PROMPERU, to attract new business investment in the country’s strategic sectors: Tourism, Diversified Manufacturing, Food and Beverages, Renewable Energy, and Knowledge-Intensive Services.
