Gerardo M. Gonzales holds a significant job experience by working in non-governmental international organizations as well as in publicly- and privately-owned institutions, with major specialization in development economics and finance. He has been CEO of Procapitales (Asociación de Empresas Promotoras del Mercado de Capitales), the trade association of Peruvian capital market participants, since 2007.
Formerly, he was Head of the Institutional Policy Development Office at the Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (Indecopi) (2005-2007); Resident Representative (1996-2005) and Technical Secretary (1988-1996) at the Inter-American Housing Union (Uniapravi); and Head of Economic Research at the Latin American Association of Development Finance Institutions (Alide) (1984-1988).
He has also performed as consultant to both the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and has an extensive record of publications in books and professional journals both in Peru and abroad.
He is a graduate in economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and holds a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of Toronto (Canada).
